~Come Discover a local Tampa Bay Legend~

Castortowne will return in 2025! Huzzah!


Due to the DOT needing to resurface the park, we have been asked to move the dates for this upcoming season! This year we are... THANKFUL to INVADE in the fall! 


Join us for a fun filled weekend of family friendly piracy as we uncover a local pirate legend and his thriving community of miscreants!  


   Castortowne will feature pirate themed attractions such as a living history encampment, live mermaids, black powder and sword demonstrations, pirate stories, songs, and more! Children can test their luck against a pirate in various activities and games, or get a free book from our Bookaneer Tent!     


Admission to this event is free to the public with parking on site. Snacks and drinks recommended (Although we are WORKING on getting some food trucks). No alcohol is permitted on National Park property.

Free Books available while supplies last in our Bookaneer Tent Literary Outreach Program. Children are able to take a free book home each, swap out gently used books, or donate them back for more kids to use.

Castortowne is typically the weekend after Mother's Day in May each year provided we still have a green light for the event.

The Castortowne Pirate Invasion is hosted by The Krewe of The Scarlett Fortuna Inc 501(c)3 Nonprofit, and The De Soto National Memorial Park which is apart of the National Park Services. Together we are able to keep this event FREE to the public.

Of course! This is a family friendly event suitable for all ages to learn about Henry Castor, his town, and how he plundered the shores of Tampa Bay. Or did he...?


There are quite a few different activities available throughout the day, be sure to check out our event schedule for more info!

Most definitely! 


We encourage people come come dressed as a pirate to enjoy the event (as long as it is publicly acceptable of course!)

We highly recommend to have food and drink with you and enjoy a picnic within the park amongst the pirates. We promise, they don't bite. Hard.


Each year we work towards getting a food truck available for some kind of food related options. Keep watch here on the site, or social media ads we make to show what trucks we may have coming out!


Just a friendly reminder, being that our event is located on National Park Property, alcohol is strictly prohibited at all times. 

Due to this event being located within a National Park, we are not permitted to host vendors within the park property where sales can be made. 


Unfortunately this also includes promoting your product even if there is no transactions taking place at this time. 


* Nonprofit Organizations: While we can set up (as we are a nonprofit ourselves), we cannot ask for donations to our organizations. We can provide literature about who we are, but cannot accept funds at the event at this time. Should any organization be interested in setting up at Castortowne, approval from the National Park would be required. *
